When I was growing up playing poker taught me a bit about responsibility and having to live with the consequences of my actions. It taught me that if I take a risk I can be rewarded for taking the risk but it can have a negative impact as well and I have to weigh the risk versus the reward and make my decisions based on those facts.
Sitting around with friends playing poker is a great way to socialize with friends. I can be an evening that is not about getting drunk or getting laid just about chilling out with some friends and having a few laughs over a deck of cards.
Playing poker in a casinos poker room can also be an educational experience. This is a great way to see the human psyche at work. To sit and try to analyze another person and attempt to determine what cards they are holding just by their body language and facial expressions.
Learning to read other people is a skill that can be used outside of the casino. This is a skill that can help you in your professional life and your love life. After all nothing can be better then being able to tell when a girl is interested in you.
