The Horseshoe Casino and Hotel in Southern Indiana will have to pay a $59,000 fine and on a non related violation a dealer will be suspended for 2 days for a violation of the state gambling laws.
The Harrison Country Casino has agreed to pay a fine to avoid being charged with 5 other casino violations. One of the charges the casino was facing was allowing someone to enter a riverboat casino that was on the banned list on more then one occasion.
According to the Indiana gaming Commission the casino allowed someone into the casino who had volunteered to be on the banned for life list because of his gambling addiction.
Indiana law forbids any casino to allow anyone on the banned list to gamble in any casino. Yet investigators are claiming that during their 2 month long investigation the gambler in question entered the casino to gamble on nine different occasions and once the casino comped him a room for the night.
A spokeswoman for the casino said that casino officials regret the casinos infractions and will make sure the casino workers are better trained to avoid these problems in the future. She also said that people who have volunteered to be on the casino banned list are hard to spot.
The $59,000 fine was for several casino infractions like one dealer did not count cards at the end of his shift which is the daily procedure, a roulette wheel was not properly locked down, state gaming agents were not called immediately when casino workers spotted possible criminal activities inside the casino and the casino also let a minor on the boat.
In a non related issue a dealer was suspended for 2 days after investigators find out that the dealer hold a weekly poker game which is against the rules.
