Of the three approved proposals one is near Wellington and the other two are near Mulvane. The three casinos which were endorsed are Chisholm Creek Casino Resort, Lakes Entertainment Inc, and Harrah’s Entertainment.
The Chisholm Creek Casino Resort is expected to spend $225 million on the gambling facility in Kansas Turnpike near Mulvane. This casino is projected to be up on a total of 275,000 square feet, where nearly 2,000 slot machines will be operated in combination with 40 table games. It is expected that this process will facilitate 941 new jobs.
The Lakes Entertainment is expected to spend $240 million on the gambling facility. This casino is projected to be up on a total of 230,000-square-foot and it is counted on that this process will home 1,700 new jobs.
The Harrah’s Entertainment was approved for a casino near Mulvane; however, it is not materializing to reality because the Harrah’s have decided to put a stop to the process due to lack of funds. Perhaps, a comparatively smaller set up might materialize.
It should be noted that the commission did not approve all proposals that came forward in this regard, a couple of proposals from the Prairie Sky Development Group around Mulvane were rejected.
Previously, the commission only approved the Wellington based casino proposals. The other two casinos were approved only later after detailed decision making.
The County Commission approval will be forwarded to the State selection commission for further approval.
